Her name is Qi Qi (pronounced "T T" with a little "ch" in there with the "t"). Her American name is Connie, but she got so excited when I pronounced her Chinese name right that I decided to call her by her real name (how weird it must be to change your name when you're in a different country...).
She just came to the US from China on Monday. Her flight was delayed and she barely made it to orientation. She's still learning English, so that tends to be a little struggle sometimes, but she seems to understand a lot more than she can speak (which is pretty typical). And whenever she learns what a word means, she gets all excited. Its really funny.
Today, we went to Target to buy some things for the apartment and she was standing in the snack isle staring at the sweets looking very confused, and all she said was, "I don't know what's delicious." I thought that was so funny. Its fascinating to watch how someone learns a language and what words they choose.
