A Tale of Two People

Hai Didn't Hum

Hai (pronounced like "hi") is one of the supervisors here who always ends up walking past my desk multiple times a day. And I always know its him coming down the stairs behind me because I can hear him humming to himself.

But today, Hai didn't hum. He would still smile at me as he passed my desk, but its Friday and he's tired and it showed. No Hai Hum for me today. ;-)


Steve Ran Away

Today is Steve's birthday. As I understand it, he is the one over my supervisor. I have never met Steve... but today I learned a lot about him.

Lisa, one of the assistants of a high muckity-muck called me this morning because there was a super secret plan for Steve's birthday. Apparently, he's told people four different days for his birthday and she's the only one who knows the real day because she keeps all of his legal papers. And apparently, he's quite the prankster but he hates birthdays.

So they planned a party partially to get back at him and they needed me to keep Steve out of the conference room where things were being set up. She knew that he would be snooping around (she had already seen him lurking suspiciously) or possibly dissappear if he caught wind of anything, so she told me to book the conference room for a high muckity-muck so he wouldn't question it. So the caterers came and set everything up and then I went to lunch.

When I got back, everything had been cleared out of the conference room and Lisa told me that the party had been canceled... Steve had fled. So now I sit here eating cake in celebration of Steve... who is not here. Though it may be a little sad... still terribly amusing.
