...and wet... especially when it falls near San Jose...
Mark, Josh and I took off for the foothills this afternoon in search of the snow that covered the tops of the mountains surrounding the Bay Area. We went as far as we could up Mt. Hamilton... but the roads were closed. But I have to say that I would love to live in any of those big beautiful houses that we passed.
Then we ventured up Hicks road and found that several other people had the same idea. The road is a steep and windy incline which continues even after you are no longer allowed to drive up it (unless you live there)... so we continued on foot. It wasn't long until the patches of snow grew... and were then gathered and thrown.
As we continued up the hill, the rain turned to snow and we continued to stop and marvel at the view... the green hills... the city... the sun beaming through the clouds and the migrating rainbow... it was so fun to see San Jose from that angle.
Then, upon rounding a corner, snowballs flew from a bush above us on the side of the road. We heard children scream with laughter and an older male yell, "You just got pegged by a six year old!" And of course we fought back... in vain. They had the high ground and infinitely more time to prepare. An 8-year-old boy even ran down and faced us from close range... it was hilarious.
After much laughter, we surrendered and headed back down the hill... it was time to get back to real life in San Jose where there are jobs to go to and jobs to search for... and unfortunately no snow to escape to.
