Bugs and Heat

Okay, so our bug problem is not really related to our heat problem but they are both nuisances that are about to drive my roommates and I crazy. The air conditioning in our apartment broke Friday night and we had the hottest weekend here in LA on the long holiday weekend just so we could fully experience the loss of our beautiful cold air. We found out today that we have a bad AC motor, so a new one has been ordered and our AC will hopefully be up and running again by tomorrow evening. We're definitely keeping our fingers crossed.

When Facilities Services came in today (at a separate time from the air conditioner) to examine the bug problem, they pulled a cricket from our kitchen light fixture. This evening, we found another cricket in that same light fixture. He is now in a container waiting for some more friends because we have decided to start collecting them, since we've already had to escort several out of the door (or mortally wound them when they refused to cooperate). We now have a running tally on our front door and some lovely diagrams of crickets so that we can use this as an educational experience (and hopefully avoid losing our sanity):

Fun Fact #1: The reason we have found several crickets in our light fixtures is because they prefer temperatures of 82-86 degrees Fahrenheit. The question is: how did they get in there and how can we get rid of them?
