OH, the Peaks and Valleys

This morning I was really feeling like my birthday was going to go by without me really caring. There's just so much going on that I just can't think about it.

But after I observed the program today for the first practicum, they surprised me by offering me the position (I thought I was waiting until Wed). I told her that I had to think about it and she said that the end of the week would be fine.

So I was excited about my options and I started to think about my birthday. My parents had already decided that they wanted to get me an iPod (since Lizzy was kid-napped from my room right after I got back from Florida), and that it would be easiest/cheapest if I bought it here and they paid for it. So as I was thinking about my birthday, I realized that if I didn't go get it today, I wouldn't be able to play with it tomorrow morning on my way to school... and that would make me sad.

And it really doesn't make sense for me to try and pull together the girls for a night out tomorrow night (but I did decide that we need to go to a 50's Diner), so we'll figure something out for this weekend. :D

Then, right before I ran off to Target (deciding that it was okay to neglect a paper for the time being), I found a bouquet of flowers with balloons from my parents at my door. Yay! It was really starting to feel like my birthday was coming. Then, I picked up the iPod and brought dinner to school for Amy because she's camped out working on the very paper I'm avoiding.

And I was all ready to map out a pro and con list (in true Gilmore style) in order to decide which practicum to accept. But Amy helped me realize that I was downplaying the pros of the first one because I was afraid of choosing it for the wrong reasons. And the truth is that its the best one for me. So its decided... though I'm kind of bummed about the pro/con list.

And now I'll be working a bit on some research (oh joy!) and heading to bed early because I'm exhausted... and when I wake up, I'll be 24. :D
