Ew... scary

I was talking on the phone with my Cousin-To-Be, Nikki (she's marrying my cousin, in case that wasn't obvious), and I looked at my wall and saw this big centipede thing... its very intriguing, but also very creepy. I want to go to bed, but I want to get rid of it first... otherwise I'll start imagining that I feel it crawl on me.... AAHHHHHH!!!

K, ya.... its actual body has to be more than an inch, but the legs/antenna/whatevers make him a lot bigger... and ickier. I guess all the rain and storminess has driven him in here... but I really don't want him to bring any of his friends... that would make me very uncomfortable... and I really don't know how to get rid of him... I don't want to kill him, but I really just don't want to be near him.

Spiders I can handle. Unknown crawly antenna-y things? not so much.

So, what do I do?

I just can't squish it with a paper towel (even though Josh tried to make it sound so simple).

Nikki suggested a shoe, but ick, then what do I do with the corpsed shoe?

So I was about to trap him in a glass because that's what I do with spiders, and I thought it would be cool to keep him... but the thought of getting close to him and him scurrying around near me just totally freaked me out.

I then felt compelled to look up centipedes to see if they could be poisonous or something. Here's a helpful link I found. It told me that this is a house centipede and suggested the vacuum. Minimal nearness and contact. Okay, I'm gonna go for it.

So I felt like I was getting ready for war. And I was all nervous about putting the vacuum near him. I finally got up the courage and he tried to get away, but it sucked him in... but then how do I know where in the tube he is? So I took the vacuum into the other room and had to take off the attachment and put it on something higher, so I could look in it without being right next to it. No centipede. Okay, I think I'm safe, now... though we'll see if I sleep. :(

It *is* war, Mike, it is. And you WON.

Seriously, all things household, it's us against them. Dominate them.
