Cold Butter

The butter on the counter is cold, here. Its not soft and mushy and easy to spread like it is in Florida. And the air is dry and there always seems to be a chilly breeze. And my dry skin (which was content and easily manageable in Florida) is now yelling at me for even thinking about staying in California.

And it doesn't help that my dad insists on using the least amount of heat possible in our house.... and he's always cold anyway... so he wears several layers and the beenie I got him ALL THE TIME... I'm serious!

Well, both my parents were gone when I woke up this morning... and today was my self-proclaimed job-search day... which of course had to begin with a viewing of some of Season 3 of Gilmore Girls. And though I have learned to bundle up in this house, as I was sitting there, I noticed that I was pretty cold, so I checked the thermostat and it WASN'T EVEN ON!!! It was about 54 degrees and I shook my head thinking I should have known better than to think that my dad would have left the heat on for me... how silly....

Anyway, its much better, now, but I'm upstairs again (and we only heat the common rooms downstairs), so my fingers are beginning to get stiff and cold as I type... which discourages me even more from continuing to sit here and search for jobs... I could tell my dad that his insistence about not heating the whole house is keeping me from finding a job because I can't wear gloves and type on the computer, too. Somehow, I don't think that will go over so well... hmm...

Cold butter is gross. As for your computer troubles.......I dunno. Get gloves with the finger tip part cut off or buy a laptop and work downstairs......whichever is cheaper...he, yeah, bad joke.

I want to see Brokeback Mountain but not right now....I'm really cranky and I need something lighthearted. Saw Casanova. Funnier than expected. Okay, must go.

I remember living in the dorms where heat still is a...luxury. During the winter break, my dorm room would be almost too cold to do just about anything. I feel ya.

I have a third option, though. Adopt a monkey. Cheaper than a laptop and you can sit downstairs in the heated room while your job monkey looks for a job for you. Just keep plenty of bananas around. 5 cents, please.
