... is once again about to commence.
I am sitting here at Kayak's again (I quite like the mix of music and the rustic sort of feeling given by the decor). My hope is to have a decent hold on a rough draft of this monster of a paper by 7 or 8 when I'll probably head home just because it will be dark and I don't like walking alone late at night... 9 hours and counting... so ya, wish me luck! :D And pray that the good spirits last... no, I'm not talking about alcohol. ;)
Updates:
12:00pm: Break for lunch (30 min) after turning one long article (which was previously read) into notes. Woohoo! :D
2:00pm: Realize that I've gotten distracted and go back to work.
2:40pm: Realize that I'm already distracted again... geez!
3:10pm: I have read and made notes for two articles since lunch. :D
3:30pm: Caught myself staring off into space :( ...back to work.
3:50pm: Celebrate the note-taking completion of half of my sources... after resorting to the M'n'M reward system per note written. :D
4:05pm: Found myself absentmindedly tapping my pen on the table to the music and staring into space... grrr...
4:20pm: Am unavoidably distracted by the conversation happening next to me... they're close to me and a little loud... and I don't like him... he's mean, constantly commenting on how much she's eating-and she's a stick... he looks like he should be her father.. but wait, now they're making out... Ew. Okay, they're gone, back to work.
4:45pm: Moved to a larger table near a plug, knowing that Amy was coming after her class and my computer battery would eventually need some help.
5:10pm: Am beginning to wonder if I would rather poke my eyes out than continue to read and take notes on research articles... :P
5:11pm: AMY'S HERE! :D Phew! I was about ready to start poking...
5:30pm: Sixth source now in note form. :D
6:40pm: The main important articles are in note form and cut into strips so that they can be arranged and stapled into groups appropriately (think: cheep note cards). :D
7:35pm: All is in order and grouped accordingly. Now its time for a dinner break. :D
8:30pm: Oops, my dinner break was too long... I must begin writing... :(
9:30pm: Only 1 paragraph and 4 references have been written... and I wasn't even connected to the internet! :(
10:00pm: I have graduated to one paragraph on my second (of what will end up as ten) page, and now it is time to go home.
10:30pm: Am now settled at home, proofreading and printing a paper (a different one) that's due tomorrow... and deciding what time I should go to bed... or at what page...
11:45pm: I have printed my other paper, but I have also spent the last hour fixing my cell phone and pre-ordering the new Sherwood CD... I am the Queen of Procrastination... and I will now attempt to abdicate my throne in an effort to avoid panic tomorrow (the paper is due Wednesday, but I have very little time tomorrow and another full day on Wed).
12:30am: I have eaten my midnight snack and have laid out all the papers I need (planning to work until 3am)... but apparently my fingers have only been able to type blog entries... hmmm... maybe it's a hardware problem...
12:50am: Realize that I'm staring at the screen and have only written two sentences... at what point do I decide that sleep is more important? How might I fare with a nap?
2:00am: After playing super-avoidant by calling a friend and chatting for quite a while (the beauty of having friends in an earlier time-zone), I now feel a little more revived and motivated to stay up past 3 to make better headway. :)
2:15am: 2 pages! Woohoo! :D
2:35am: Oh ya, I'm supposed to be writing, not listening to music on MySpace...
3:40am: I wrote 3 pages and then created an event on Facebook for later this week.. and then made flyers for the people who aren't on Facebook... apparently I have reclaimed my throne.
4:10am: 4 pages and counting... yay for Honey Nut Cherrios! :D
4:30am: Extremely distracted and starting to feel a little sick to my stomach... but I really want to get the framework of my paper all finished...
4:50am: 5 pages down.
5:15am: 5.5 pages and a break to get ready for bed... I'm beginning to realize that I'm not really going to get much sleep tonight and I still have quite a bit to add. This last skeletal section will flow easily and probably end up more cohesive if I wait until the rest of the paper is filled in... wah!
Well, after 18 hours straight, focused (or at least in an attempt to focus) on this paper, I shall now sleep for 2.5 hours and then go to class. Ugh!

Just a thought, but is it at all possible that the updates themselves are a distraction from the work at hand?
Again, just a thought.
Actually, the updates serve as a reminder to keep working, a reinforcement when I hit milestones, and necessary brief sanity breaks
Aha. Good know. And good to know even further how your brain works.
Keep on trucking.
