When I was working as the receptionist at the other building, I began to look forward to Wednesdays... the day when the water guy came. He's a little older... not exactly boyfriend material, but for some reason I really enjoyed him. He did his job (replacing all the water jugs in the building) quickly and efficiently... and he was very nice and courteous... and friendly... and there was something else that told me he had a unique personality, but I can't quite put a description to it.
So today, about a month after switching buildings, I thought about him. I was walking to the water cooler to fill up my Nalgene (as I do several times a day) and I noticed that there were a few more full jugs than there had been the last time I had looked. I was perplexed because it definitely wasn't enough, so I thought that was kind of weird. And then I started to wonder who changes the water in this building... and I thought of the water guy (I used to know his name, but I can't remember it, now).
As I walked out of the break room and turned down the hall, who did I practically run into? My water guy. I was shocked! I shouldn't have been surprised, though, since I'm at the same company in the same city... who else would change the water!? As I walked to the bathroom, I wondered if he would recognize me... or if he had wondered where I had gone.
I had to stop back by the break room to get one of my drinks from the fridge, and he was still there, taking a drink himself (guzzling is more like it). I retrieved my beverage from the fridge and then watched him as I walked out of the break room again. To my surprise he raised his eyebrows (the only part of his face I could see above the cup) at me in greeting. Maybe he did recognize me after all...
