Entropy

Have you ever noticed that your room (or house/apartment) gets really messy really fast if you don't constantly clean it? Well, it drives me crazy! Entropy is just the biggest pain!

My room has been a growing disaster (mind you, this is the OCD neat person talking who likes everything in its place) since I got back from LA. This means that the half of my bed that I don't sleep in was pilled with stuff, my desk was pilled high with grad school application stuff, and my dresser had papers and books as well as all my hair, jewelry, nails and lotion stuff covering the top of it... and there was one pile on the floor, I think.

Well, I moved everything off my desk that wasn't supposed to be there... and I felt much better. Then, yesterday, I put away (or hid) all of the things that didn't belong on my bed and then I actually made my bed for the first time in weeks (I used to do it everyday). And the next time I walked into my room, it just felt so much more open and clean and usable. It was great. And I love to lay on my bed and read so I was able to do that again... and then I read all afternoon today (when the boys were supposed to be napping, but were really just laying in bed causing mischief)... it was lovely...

So yes, I hate entropy... but I forgot how much better I feel when everythings in order (my dresser is still a mess, but I just decided I won't look over there).

Ah, the messy room. The mess in my room tends to grow out of the corners.

I have this new thing where my dirty clothes hamper will be completely empty because I've just done laundry, and then when I take off my socks and stuff before bed, instead of just walking the three steps to my empty hamper, I throw everything on the floor right in front of the empty hamper. So eventually the pile of dirty clothes starts growing out into the rest of the room until it's laundry time again. And the hamper is still empty.

Why the heck do I do that, Michal?! That's crazy people stuff!

I don't know what you're all talking about. I've recently decided that I love mess. I only lose things after I clean. Until then, I remember where I put everything.

I've also decided that the floor is just the biggest shelf in the house. Without question.

It's 2 AM, and I just hurt myself trying to keep from laughing out loud. Damn, that's funny.
