Jazz Music

So on my second plane ride home on Sunday, a lot of the radio stations were out, so I chose the Jazz station because it was kind of snappy.... wait, that's not really the right word... whatever... Anyway, I've always avoided instrumental music, like the classical stuff just because I've always been more attached to the lyrics of a song and I tend to get bored easily, so I found that classical music was boring because I'm not musically savvy enough to "understand" the song on a more interesting level.

So anyway, as I was sitting there on the plane, I found myself tapping along and kind of moving my shoulders a little and really enjoying the Jazz. So I started thinking about it because I had to figure out why I was enjoying it so much when usually I would avoid it. And then it dawned on me... Jazz is a style that I can follow because you can hear every instrument and they're all kind of doing their own distinct-but-complementary thing.

And besides that, I really like the sound of typical jazz instruments. I've always loved the drum beats... and when you add a trumpet you can only improve a band... and the saxophone... well, its just a really sexy instrument (and for those of you who know me, you know that I never use that word so I must really mean it... or I've been hanging out with Alecia too much...) and I've always wished I could improvise on it like the cool musicians do... or at least play it.

Anyway, I just thought you all should know that I've decided I need to learn more about Jazz because I like it.

P.S. I've also decided that Diet Coke is better out of the can (as opposed to the bottle), but Diet Dr. Pepper is much better in a glass with ice than it is out of the can...

Listen to John Coltrane, he's jazz, and Miles Davis. Both greats. Me gusta mucho.

I know someone else who loves jazz...just so you know....

I would tell you, I know that. And you know that too....
