My New Church

Welp, I found it... on my first try... and its pretty funny; I did that in college, too, I only visited one church.

I did my research and liked the looks of this church (here's their website if you're interested). When Roni and I visited this morning, I liked it even more, but it was smaller than I had thought... this is a problem because I'm really looking for a good group of kids my age to hang out with and when there's an age group missing because a church is small, its my age group.

So I browsed the bulletin and filled out their little card and was almost convinced that there wasn't a chance that they had a 20's group. But I liked the pastor, the people, and the feel of the church a lot... and it would be good for the boys. So as we were going up to take communion, I thought to myself, "Okay God, if the bread for communion is Matza instead of leavened bread, I'll stay even if there isn't a 20's group."

Now, I make little tests like that every once in a while when I'm scared to make a decision or to hope for something... and I usually create another test if that one works out because I'm afraid my test wasn't good enough and it was just a coincidence. And this time I was positive that the bread was going to be leavened because I've only ever been to one church that served Matza... my church back home. And it doesn't really matter what kind of bread you use (with yeast, or without it) because it all brings people's hearts to the same place... but if you're gonna be particular... then you would have to remember that Communion comes from the Passover feast which was held during the Festival of Unleavened Bread... soo....the bread they used had no yeast in it...

Well, guess what... the communion bread was Matza. So I prayed and laughed to myself and thought, okay, God, I guess this is where you want me. I'm still laughing to myself about it, actually.

So then, Roni and I chatted with the pastor again after the service and I mentioned the 20's group thing, and he said, "You know, I have three daughters about that age and they've been buggin' me for a while about starting a group. So the answer is: no, we don't have one, but we need to start one." And I said, "That's good enough for me. I'd love to help them."

So yay! I'm happy...
