I saw my first Florida frog (it was a green tree frog) today. I keep seeing the little lizard things (green anoles) everywhere and I really want one as a pet... in 7th grade we got to take care of a bunch of them and I would come to the science room so that I could hold mine while I did some of my homework reading... ya, I've always been weird like that.
Anyway, I love the cute little frogs with the round sticky fingers and there was one hopping around the lanai in the backyard tonight. I was trying to catch him because I wanted to hold him, but I was half afraid that he'd hurt me or I'd hurt him. Well, he seemed to be scared half to death of me and of course he was hopping away. So, I tried to keep him from hopping toward the pool, but he did it anyway... he hopped right in. Dumb frog... I knew the chlorine would kill him, so I had to rescue him, but I didn't know how since he just kept swimming away when I put my hand in the water.
So I went and got a bucket and started making waves in the pool to try and get him to the other side. When I did, I went over and scooped him into the bucket and he wasn't very happy with me. I thought about putting him in some fresh water and keeping him for a little while, but I decided that I needed more prep for that and I should just get him out of the chlorinated water and back outside in the grass.... so I set him free... I was sad to see him go.... he was so cute!
