When I was younger and more naive than I am now, I thought that the followers of Allah were just confused and didn't know how to worship God Now that my thoughts have matured a bit, I realized that Allah and God cannot be one in the same.
Logical/Religious argument (I tried to separate the two, but I just couldn't... they can't help but go together):
Christians claim that God revealed to them the words that are written in the Bible, and the Muslims believe the same about Allah and the Qur'an. The Qur'an says that Allah is the one and only all-powerful god over everything that has been created, and the Bible says the same about God. So the question I ask is: How can they both be right? How can both religious groups believe that what their holy books say is the truth while accepting the other group as valid and true as well? That just doesn't follow.
So here's how I see it. Christians get in trouble for saying that their way is the only way to heaven, the only true religion, and the only true God. And though I'm not sure about this (please correct me if I'm wrong) Muslims believe that their way is one of many ways to Allah/God. The thing about the relative mindset is that it says, "whatever works for you is great for you, but don't push it on me because I'm doing it my own way and you can't tell me I'm wrong..." Unfortunately, this does not logically translate to other things in life. We do not live in a world where "anything goes." You can't jump off a building (without anything attached to you) and expect not to fall. Gravity isn't something that can be negotiated or avoided. Its a rule. Its an absolute. Its truth. If you study anything about nature or the earth and space, you will find that things have to be "just so" or something wouldn't work... or the world would fly off its orbit, or etc. But anyway, now that I've opened multiple cans of worms, you see my point.
I guess Muslims claim that Allah and God are the same and therefore its okay for Christians to claim that God is the only true God because they hear "Allah" when Christians say "God." But what doesn't make sense to me is that they are so precise and dedicated and faithful to their religious practices and yet they do not expect Christians, who apparently worship their same god, to act the same. Why would Allah demand that of them, but ask completely different behavior from Christians? That doesn't follow. I'm probably making a jump here, but the only thing that makes sense to me is that the God of the Bible is really the true God (distinct and different from Allah) just like He claims. My reasoning in this specific argument is that He asks a specific thing of His people (acceptance of Christ's sacrifice of life for their imperfectness) and will not accept anything else. This means that He wouldn't go to another group of people and ask them to do something completely different. I guess I would see that as extremely inconsistent behavior from a self-claimed never-changing God.
What good is a god who changes his mind? The ancient Greeks lived in constant fear of their gods because they believed that they fought amongst each other, made alliances and broke them whenever they felt like it. I hate to break it to you but if Allah and God are the same, then I wouldn't trust either one of them. This "magnificent and all-wonderful" god is treating two groups of people very differently and therefore unfairly. I'm sorry but I really don't feel like this "combination god" cares at all about humans. He's not acting out of love... he's just reeking havoc and causing confusion...
Well, the good news is, this god only exists in people's minds. The Christian God has never behaved this way. Its always been very clear where He stands and what He asks of His people... and I just have to say that compared to everything I've done, its amazing that He loves me so much that He made it possible for me to talk to Him, learn from Him, and serve Him. He paid the trillion dollar bill and I got treasure delivered to my door. A truly free gift that was never deserved by any effort I have made or any effort that I could possibly make. He's God! What could a human possibly do for an all-knowing and all-powerful God except to yield our life to Him and let Him teach us how to love him more each day? That's what we were created for and though its hard to believe, I am convinced more and more each day that its what we do best as long as its all we do.
