Tony Awards

I've actually never been interested in the Tony Awards before, but I have to be honest and say that it is Hugh Jackman (this year's host) who drew me to them tonight. I'm not even the type of person who watches the Emmys and the Oscars. Usually, I just try to watch for an award to be given regarding something I've seen (usually a very small proportion of the films up for awards). If I miss it, life goes on and I ask someone else about what happened.

So tonight, I watched the little musical act introduction with Hugh dancing around with all the women (wow, he can kick high!), and I was hooked. I kept seeing all of these people on the stage who I knew from movies and TV and such... I had no idea that the theater and movie people were so interconnected (though I do recognize the striking similarities between them)!

What I've decided is that I like the Tony Awards better... it seems like such a fun, friendly, social and supportive environment. When someone wins, they tell everyone else who was nominated for that award how wonderful they all are and that they all deserved to win, too. I think its great... I think the musical excerpts make it a lot more fun, too... But I did the musicals in junior high and high school, so maybe I'm a little biased... or would cultured be a better word? ;)
