I came home from college with a ton of stuff. Its all in boxes and bags filling my room and our guest room. Yesturday, I decided that I needed to cut down on everything that I bring to college because most of it doesn't even end up getting touched or used. You see, I have this disease. I like to be completely prepaired and comfortable for every situation. So, I bring everything I could need or want while I am away at school. This includes unique and rarely used clothing items, crafts that I started in grade school and still want to finish, craft supplies for anything that might strike my fancy (including knitting, crocheting, decopauge, beadwork, posters, cards, etc.), all of my favorite books that I have read and may want to re-read or loan to someone, all of my reference books (including previously used Psych text books), all of the books that I have purchased with the intent to read someday, a box full of candles and other decorations for my room, another box full of toys (playdo, balloons, water guns, bubbles, toy car, slinky, etc.), pictures of everything I've ever seen, a small portion of my stuft animal collection (which is rather large compared to most people), all of my music and musical devices (large stereo system, 100 CD's, iPod, discman, portable speakers, etc.), a selection of my movie collection at home (usually about 20 at a time), seasonal necessities (pumpkin carving knives and designs, Christmas lights and garland, etc.), and a large bag holding about 50 bottles of nail polish.
Ya, so its agreed: thats a lot. And most of it I could be perfectly content without. Infact, when I bring all of this stuff with me, the idea is that I want to be able to have it in case I have free time with which to use it. But the thing is, I rarely have any free time at all. So, I don't end up using it. So! This year, most of it is staying at home. I'm figuring that since it would be nice if I could drive myself to school (without needing the parental van to caravan with the rest of my stuff), I should at least try to see if I can get what I need down to school by myself. And anyway, it would be wonderful if I had less stuff because I'll probably be changing apartments halfway through the year and I really wasn't looking forward to doing the whole moving ordeal with all the stuff that I usually bring. So ya, thats the plan. Wish me luck!

I think this is a wonderful idea!!! You will be much happier if you can "control" your stuff better. I am very impressed!!
